Fiverr’s ‘Can No Longer be Contacted’ [How To Solve]

Fiverr's 'Can No Longer be Contacted'

Fiverr is a platform where sellers offer ‘packaged’ services to buyers. It’s similar to Upwork, but more ‘project-based’, where as Upwork has an hourly-rate option. I’ve used Fiverr quite a bit. Both as a buyer, and a seller. (I have over 1000 Fiverr orders under my belt as seller) I’ve used the website to hire quick graphic design services, translations or anything that I wanted done fast and affordably.

When you use Fiverr as often as I did, you usually have your preferred service providers on the platform. Sellers that you know, trust and that understand your needs well. When you’re in need of a certain service and the seller on Fiverr can no longer be contacted, it can be very frustrating.

In this article I explain to you why that happens and how to proceed when you come across this dreadful message.

Why the Fiver seller can no longer be contacted.
Fiverr's 'Can No Longer be Contacted'

There are a few reasons why a seller can no longer be contacted on Fiverr:

  1. The seller has closed his or her account.
  2. The seller has been banned from Fiverr.
  3. The seller has blocked you.
How to contact a Fiverr seller that can no longer be contacted.

You should first determine what the reason is for the seller’s absence and the error message.

Login with another Fiverr account or use that of a friend and type the seller’s username in the Fiver search bar. Does the name come up? That means it’s personal. The buyer has probably blocked you.

In this case, you can contact the seller with the other account. Perhaps it would be a good idea to find out how you offended him/her so you don’t replicate the same issue.

If the name does not show up, the seller has probably either shut down his or her account or has been removed from the platform. This happens more than you’d expect, as Fiverr has some very silly rules that it enforces quite strictly.

For example, you’re not allowed to exchange email addresses. But then how do you exchange certain login details for certain projects? Anyhow, I could write a big, big paragraph on this topic, but I’d digress too much. Just know that a banned seller user does not equal a terrible human being.

What do you do when you can’t contact the seller, neither on your account, nor someone else’s account.

Well, the good news is that in this case it’s not personal. The bad news is that it’s a bit harder to contact him or her.

If you really, really need to do speak to him or her, you can do some creative ‘stalking’.
Google the Fiverr username.

You’d surprised of the amount of Fiverr users that have their usernames on other channels such as their professional websites or personal social media channels. They do this either on purpose, to redirect Fiverr traffic and diversify, or just accidentally as they use that nickname in private. You can now contact the seller through this channel.

Find the seller through digital breadcrumbs in past deliveries.

Did the seller manage your google ads? In that case he should have logged in using his/her email address that you now can use. Did he or she ever send you his/her portfolio? Scroll back in your conversation. Perhaps there are contact details on that portfolio page.

Find the seller through reverse image search.

This one is a little creepy and does not always work. Zoom in on & screenshot the seller’s profile pic. Then go to Tiny Eye.

Here you can submit the screenshot. The search engine will find that seller’s profile picture on the web, and through that picture you can find his or her social media channels. This does not work very well with Fiverr as there is no way to see the profile picture in high resolution, only very tiny.

Prevention is better than treatment

I usually hate those articles that tell me ‘you should’ve just done this before!’. But I still think I should mention it.

A good freelancer is worth his or her weight in gold. So protect that asset.

If I find someone that impresses me and could be a true contribution to my professional circle, I quickly ask for an off-fiverr communication method. I understand this is ‘not allowed’ strictly speaker, but hey, if you won’t tell anyone, I won’t tell anyone. 😉

Can you report a seller on Fiverr?

In order for the seller to be banned in the first place, most likely, he was reported by a buyer like me and you. if you have been misled or the buyer didn’t hold on to their end of the deal, you can and should report a seller on Fiverr.
